Co-Cheer Coach & Strength & Conditioning Coach
Position Details:
The co-cheer coach/strength & conditioning coach is responsible for assisting in operations of the cheer program within the policies and procedures of the National Junior College Athletic Association, Region XIV and Kilgore College. Additionally, the strength and conditioning coach will create and oversee programs that improve athletic performance, reduce injuries, and teach fitness skills. They may also develop individualized plans for athletes to improve their performance. The co-cheer coach/strength & conditioning coach will work closely with the other co-cheer coach, and softball and women’s basketball coaches, administrative offices and various departments on campus. Professionalism and good rapport among students, staff and faculty must be established, maintained and promoted
Responsibilities:
- Strength and conditioning coach assess athletes' physical and mental health, and monitor their progress. They may also provide testing and progress reports to coaches and supervisors.
- Strength and conditioning coach may teach strength and conditioning classes, and demonstrate proper exercise performance.
- Strength and conditioning coach may be responsible for maintaining strength training facilities, and establishing policies and procedures for their safe operation.
- Practice and maintain discipline and structure of program among student athletes
- Ensure that a high level of competition is consistent at all levels throughout the program
- Develop and implement strategies to promote student athlete success
- Strength and conditioning coach may educate athletes on proper nutrition, rest, and recovery.
- Strength and conditioning coach may consult with sports medicine or athletic training staff when working with injured athletes.
- Recruiting potential student athletes’ year round
- Strength and conditioning coach may collaborate with other coaches, trainers, and medical staff. They may also meet with sport coach to determine what athletes need to work on.
- Monitoring academic standing and eligibility of student athletes
- Upkeep of equipment inventory and organization
- Assist in maintaining a physically safe practice environment and plan effective practices.
- Assist in maintaining cheerleading budget.
- Distribute monthly calendar to cheerleaders.
- Maintain daily class and game attendance for cheerleaders.
- Monitor cheerleader grades.
- Coordinate teambuilding/bonding activities.
- Schedule dates for summer camp, practices, and uniform fitting.
- Schedule a date for tryouts for 1 week in March or April. (Scheduling should occur after spring sports practices.)
- Hold tryouts in an organized manner by teaching material at the beginning so students have time to learn it.
- Conduct some summer practices and conditioning.
- Send letter home to parents regarding practice gear requirements and uniform requirements.
- Give out summer pre- and post- camp workouts to stay in shape.
- Attend cheer camp with the cheerleaders.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum collegiate playing experience at any level
- Individuals must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have working knowledge of various technology platforms and software such as: Google, Microsoft
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Demonstrated success in recruiting, ability to establish professional relationships among students, staff and administration
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
- This Part-Time position will work around 19 hours per week for an annual salary of $19,500
