Adjunct Instructor - Music Theory
Position Details:
Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Music Theory Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Music Theory Instructor will be responsible for teaching college level Theory courses, as well as applied lessons in composition, and collaborating with the ear-training and piano instructors in aligning a sequential program of instruction in Music at Kilgore College.
Responsibilities:
- Teach, conduct, and develop college level Music Theory courses
- Collaborate with piano and ear-training instructors in aligning a sequential program of instruction in Music at Kilgore College
- Provide individual Composition lessons to students at different levels of proficiency
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student
- Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance
- Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events
- Recruit students through various initiatives including on and off-campus school, community, and event activities and visits
- Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters in Music, Music Composition, Music Theory, Music Education, or a Master’s degree or higher with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Music Theory or Music Education
- Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
- Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.
All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
