Adjunct Clinical Instructor - Vocational Nursing
Position Details:
The Clinical Instructor assumes responsibility for performance of all functions generally identified by the college as within the realms of the instructor.
Responsibilities:
This is an adjunct faculty position. Responsibilities will include teaching one or more courses, developing appropriate course syllabi, and working with students as needed.
- Works in coordination with the Team Lead and the Skills/Sim Lab Instructors.
- Assist in the preparation of the Course Syllabus for the clinical portion with input into the other syllabus for the course.
- Attend team meeting/communicate with the Team Lead prior to clinical beginning and after completion.
- Must alert the Team Lead when clinical schedule is changed in order to maintain required clinical hours.
- Be aware of the Unit Learning Outcomes and base clinical experiences on enhancement of Unit Learning Outcomes.
- Responsible for assuring that students have provided and discussed their Learning Outcomes and expectations with the clinical staff.
- Assist in the scheduling of clinical sites.
- Provide ongoing posting of student assignments and responsible for upgrading each student’s skill level so it will be available for the nurses at the clinical sites.
- Responsible for student evaluations for the clinical area.
- Responsible for grading and providing feedback for clinical paperwork within one week of student turning in the paperwork.
- Responsible for counseling with students on progress.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Maintain a professional, supportive relationship with all students.
- Responsible for maintaining grades sheets.
- Responsible for consulting with other instructors on students’ progress.
- Provide a written, signed copy of grades to the Team Lead one day prior to the college deadline. Enter grades electronically if access provided.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.
- Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in subject area of teaching responsibility.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
- Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,800 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,000 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.
