Specialist – Human Resources
Position summary:
The HR Specialist supports key HR functions with a focus on data integrity, compliance, process improvement,
and providing subject matter expertise on employment. This role provides expert-level support across the
employee lifecycle and serves as a resource for staff, applicants, and leadership.
Position responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate employee records in the college’s ERP system; ensure data integrity and support system reporting needs.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for employment processes, including I-9 compliance, required documentation, and adherence to applicable employment laws; train hiring managers on hiring procedures and requirements.
- Manage job postings and applicant tracking; advise departments on position postings, hiring processes, and required documentation.
- Coordinate and process employment actions, including new hires, status changes, and terminations.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including conducting new employee orientations and supporting employees through transitions.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports including but not limited to CBM, Veteran Reporting, IPEDS, etc.
- Manage and provide guidance and oversight for the volunteer program, including policy enforcement, background checks, and annual audits of participation.
- Maintain HR files in accordance with institutional retention guidelines (paper and electronic).
- Assist in preparation of contracts, Paid Professional Assignment (PPA), and compensation letters.
- Manage HR Help Desk requests including service records, verification of employment, employee questions, resolution of employee issues, and applicant questions.
- Assist with hiring and training the HR work-study employee.
- Coordinate Employee Service Awards and support employee engagement efforts.
- Serve on committees, Hospitality Committee participation is required
- Regular scheduled attendance on a Full-Time Basis. Excess hours may be required during peak periods
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred. One year of proven work-related experience in Human Resources or a similar business office environment.
- Must have a proven history of reliability, accuracy and willingness to work as requested to ensure timely and accurate data entry and file maintenance.
- Advanced and efficient knowledge and skills of computer applications including Microsoft suite, Adobe, typing and data entry.
- Must be able to work in a typical office environment.
- Must be able to handle high workload and meet deadlines in a professional office
- Must be organized, confidential, timely, tactful, detail-oriented, and even tempered.
- Must have strong communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

- Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

- Compensation for this 12-month position is $38,208.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check.
