Position summary:
The Vice President of Student Services is the chief student affairs officer of the College, reports directly to the President and works collaboratively to ensure the effective operations of the College. The Vice President is responsible for integrating student services from recruitment through graduation, ensuring the quality customer focus of those services. The Vice President provides leadership in maintaining a student-centered philosophy with a clear focus on successful student outcomes. The Vice President is responsible for providing administrative leadership for student services, including, but not limited to, admissions, registrar, advising, athletics, retention, counseling, student housing, disability services, student conduct, testing, student activities, and various grant-funded programs. Serves as a member of the College executive leadership team.
Position responsibilities:
- Develops multi-year tactical and annual operational goals designed to implement the strategic goals of the College President and Board;
- Recommends new or revised systems, methods, programs and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of College services;
- Participates in the College’s overall planning process;
- Exercises leadership for and executive management of assigned departments and for the professional development of assigned personnel;
- Identifies, develops, and implements innovative student services, creative enrollment management efforts, and efficient business processes in support of the institution’s mission and strategic plan.
- Provides leadership for evaluating and ensuring quality in all aspects of the programs and services supervised;
- Recommends, develops and implements policies, procedures and practices which foster and promote excellent service to students;
- Recommends organizational structures, personnel and resources to ensure a student-centered environment at all levels;
- Represents the College to various external entities and with outside agencies in matters relating to the programs and services supervised;
- Provides leadership and guidance for the recruitment and retention of students;
- Assumes leadership and responsibility for establishing an environment which promotes respect for students, faculty, and staff;
- Oversees and directs activities related to student conduct issues, ensuring that due process is followed according to College policies and procedures;
- Participates in and supervises the preparation and recommendation of detailed budgets for the functions supervised;
- Oversees grants as assigned to student services and as appropriate;
- Supports College activities and special events through attendance and/or participation;
- Is a positive and active representative of the College and is available to address impromptu situations involving the College during non-traditional work hours;
- Contributes to a safe educational and working environment and is prepared to take action should a health or safety emergency occur; serves as a senior member of the College crisis/emergency management programs;
- Requires the kind of teamwork, supervision, and personal interaction that cannot be had in a home office situation; therefore, regular and predictable on-site attendance is a job requirement;
- Performs all other duties necessary to accomplish the objectives of the College and/or as assigned by the President.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Masters degree in an area specific to the areas supervised or in a closely related area, Doctoral degree preferred;
- Minimum of five years increasingly responsible administrative experience in a college environment related to the areas supervised, candidates with 10+ years' experience in higher education will be given preference (experience in community college setting is preferred);
- Strong student-focused leader who has the ability to motivate and support a large team with diverse responsibilities;
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong positive relationships;
- Deep knowledge of student services, resource prioritization and allocation, strategic thinking, policy development and implementation, and compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Demonstrated ability to create clear, precise and effective verbal and written communication for multiple audiences;
- Skill in supervisory leadership, managing, organizing, human relations, negotiation, and budgeting;
- Demonstrated project management and time-management skills including dealing with multiple and competing deadlines, ability to prioritize, work under pressure, complete tasks on time and be responsive to requests;
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Ability to meet a work schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.
- No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check.
